Media enquiries related to the London riots can be directed to the editor via enquries@thewestlondoner.com.

Fellow journalists interested in our sources for articles (FOI/DPA/EIR requests, and so on) are invited to use the contact form. Normally we’re happy to pass along a copy, along with a request for acknowledgement if the request was unique to us.

The history of the site can mostly be gleaned from the About page, but for convenience’s sake: the original WordPress site was founded by then-student Gaz Corfield immediately before the London riots of August 2011. That site gained 1,000,000 pageviews in 24 hours at the height of the riots, and 1.9m pageviews overall.

Based on the enduring, loyal audience who stuck around after the riots, Gaz spent a few pennies and a month of his time building this website as a professional platform for independent local news journalism.

The site does not adopt any particular editorial line on a given issue and prides itself on not being beholden to advertisers’ interests as some outlets are perceived to be.
